I have need for a hammer from time to time. Doesn't everybody? I'm not a carpenter or anything like that, I just need a few quality general-purpose tools in the workshop to deal with any household tasks that might come up. One problem I've had with hammers, axes, hatchets and other tools with wooden handles is that the handles don't last. What's with this wood problem? Tools in the past didn't always have the handles break off or come loose. And did you ever try to replace a handle and get it to fit and work properly? Best of luck.
Well, when my last hammer handle broke off at the head I visited my local Home Depot with the intent of getting a new one. Instead, I started viewing new hammers and spotted this Vaughan 16-ounce curved-claw hammer with a fiberglass handle. It was just about the right size I needed, had a nice balance and feel and was reasonably inexpensive (at least not much more expensive than those with wooden handles). I purchased it thinking this might be the end of the hammer handle problem.
I've been very pleased with this piece of equipment. I've owned it now for over a couple years and have had zero problems. It has worked splendidly for all the little tasks I encounter. The handle is fit and secure and shows no sign of loosening, and breakage would seem to be out of the question. This is a fine tool. It may last decades. I'm very pleased.
